In a shooting Saturday night in the West Englewood neighbourhood of Chicago’s South Side, one Chicago police officer was murdered and another was badly injured.

Around 9 p.m., a shooting occurred near the junction of 63rd Street and Bell Avenue.

According to officials, both cops were rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where one of them, a woman, was pronounced deceased.

According to Chicago police officials, the other officer is in serious to critical condition.

Officials said one suspect was shot and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in severe condition.

The manner and cause of the shooting have not been revealed by police.
