Markie Post, who starred in the films Night Court and Hearts Afire, died on Saturday after a nearly four-year cancer battle. She had turned seventy years old.
Her boss verified Post’s death. Post worked as a card dealer on Card Sharks and as an associate producer on Alex Trebek’s Double Dare before making the transition to acting.
Post appeared in numerous television episodes, including Cheers, Scrubs, Chicago P.D., CHiPS, Hart to Hart, and The Love Boat, as well as films such as There’s Something About Mary, in addition to starring roles in Night Court, Hearts Afire, and The Fall Guy.
In a statement, Post’s family said that while she was undergoing chemotherapy, she continued to act, appearing on The Kids Are Alright and in the Lifelong film Four Christmases and a Wedding, but “our pride is in who she was in addition to its role; a person who made elaborate cakes for friends, sewed curtains for first apartments, and showed us how to be kind, loving, and forgiving in an often cruel world.”
