According to his attorney, Johnny Depp is pleased with his “total victory” in his defamation suit against his ex-wife Amber Heard. “Obviously, we can’t disclose attorney-client communications,” Mr Chew said when questioned about Ms. Heard’s fear of being impoverished. “This was all about restoring his reputation, which he has done. Johnny had a complete victory “The star’s lawyer added.

Mr Chew went on to say during the televised interview that the Pirates of the Caribbean star was “over the moon” when the verdict was announced out in his favour.
“It was as if the weight of the world had been lifted from his shoulders,” Mr Chew said, adding, “and I feel that eventually, after six years, he’s gotten his life back.”

“It was as if the weight of the world had been lifted from his shoulders,” Mr Chew said, adding, “and I feel that eventually, after six years, he’s gotten his life back.”

According to the New York Post, Mr Chew also dismissed the possibility of Ms Heard ever overturning the decision in a separate interview on the Today Show. He stated that he is “very confident” that “no errors” exist that would justify any successful appeal.

Camille Vasquez, Mr Depp’s co-attorney, also said it was “disappointing” that Ms Heard’s team called the triumph a setback for the #MeToo and women’s rights movements. She stated that they brought the actress down by “using her words against her.” According to the Post, Ms Vasquez stated that every question asked during the trial was related to something that the Aquaman actress had previously stated.

She continued, “Any victims are encouraged to come forward. Domestic violence is not gendered.”

Earlier this month, a jury found to be consistently “clear and convincing evidence” that Ms Heard defamed Mr Depp when she wrote an op-ed for the Washington Post about being a victim of domestic violence in 2018. A jury awarded Mr. Depp $15 million, which was later reduced to $10.35 million. Ms Heard, on the other hand, was bestowed $2 million in losses in a counterclaim against her ex for defamatory remarks made by his lawyer, who called her abuse claims a “hoax.”

Following the verdict, Ms Heard’s team stated that the Hollywood actress would file an appeal. When asked if Ms Heard could pay the $10.35 million settlement, her lawyer, Elaine Bredehoft, said, “absolutely not.” The outcome, according to the attorney, is a major setback for domestic violence victims.
