New information provided by lawmakers looking into Donald Trump’s role in the US Capitol uprising last year shows that the defeated president intended to declare victory in the 2020 election no matter the results.

Trump developed a “premeditated plan” months in advance to declare victory on election night, regardless of the results of the vote count, panellist Zoe Lofgren testified at the hearing.

Lofgren cited information acquired by the committee, including testimony from Trump’s former campaign manager, in saying that “the evidence demonstrates that his fake victory speech was planned well in advance, before any votes had been tabulated.”

Several panellists have publicly urged Attorney General Merrick Garland to bring charges against Trump in connection with the attack on the Capitol.

Though the committee has not yet stated whether it will recommend any cases for criminal prosecution, several US media outlets reported on Thursday that members intended to vote to subpoena Trump during the session.

Numerous pieces of evidence regarding the former president’s involvement in a complex web of related plans to rig the 2020 election have already been made public by a House of Representatives investigation.

The panel of seven Democrats and two Republicans provided new, indicting information regarding the January 6 uprising in what may have been its final public statement before issuing a report on its conclusions.

The committee’s vice head, Liz Cheney, stated that the overwhelming body of evidence thus far has demonstrated that one guy, Donald Trump, who many others followed, was the primary cause of the events on January 6.

A “clear and present” threat to democracy, according to the committee, is posed by Trump, who continues to be a source of false information regarding the 2020 presidential race.

Cheney asked, “Why would Americans believe that our institutions, our republic, and our constitution are impervious to further assault?

This inquiry has taught us an important lesson: No matter the political cost, our institutions can only be upheld by men and women of good faith.

In eight hearings over the course of the summer, explosive witness testimony revealed shocking cases of Trump and his allies exerting pressure on election officials and attempting to have legally cast votes annulled in key states, as well as of Trump’s inaction during the mob outburst.

Violence is a right.

After the elections on November 8 that determine which party will control Congress, the panel intends to issue its final report by the end of the year. There may be a draught report released first.

It was the first time a hearing had taken place without any live witnesses; instead, fresh video evidence had been presented, including images taken by a Danish film team for a documentary about longtime Trump supporter Roger Stone

The notorious self-styled “dirty trickster” was shown assuring the filmmakers he had no interest in waiting to fight the vote tally in one clip from the day before the 2020 election that was shown to the full hearing room.

The 70-year-old Republican operator, who hasn’t been put on trial for the incident, says, “Let’s get right to the violence.”

Stone, the Oath Keepers, and the Proud Boys were two organisations that the panel claimed “kept extensive direct contacts to” in order to carry out the violent attacks on the Capitol.

Seditious conspiracy charges stemming from the uprising have been brought against the leaders of both parties.

In an effort to help legislators understand why certain agents’ text messages from the night before the uprising and the uprising itself vanished, the panel also presented data derived from roughly one million pages of papers turned over by the Secret Service.

According to panel member Adam Schiff, the data buttress testimony from prior hearings that showed Trump inflamed his supporters on January 6 despite being repeatedly warned of escalating violence.

It’s embarrassing.

In June, former White House adviser Cassidy Hutchinson said that Trump was informed that some of his followers had shown up armed but still requested their admission to his rally.

Investigators’ access to Secret Service emails supports Cassidy’s claims that Trump desired to take command of the crowd at the Capitol. If he had done so, the riot would have turned into an attack by one branch of government on another, which may have ended up upending the republic.

They also demonstrate that agents knew the Proud Boys and other extremists were preparing to spearhead an attack on the Capitol in the days leading up to January 6, according to Schiff.

Trump was impeached for inciting the mob to storm Congress to obstruct the peaceful transition of power to Joe Biden, which he had urged his supporters to “fight like hell” in an impassioned rally delivered near the White House.

The panel presented previously unseen video of Hutchinson saying that Trump indicated he “didn’t want people to know we lost” after the Supreme Court dismissed a lawsuit contesting the election.
