On an American Airlines flight from Buenos Aires to Miami, a passenger was arrested on suspicion of stealing $10,000 and two credit cards from two female passengers seated nearby. According to the Daily Beast, Diego Sebastian Radio was apprehended when the plane touched down at Miami International Airport on Tuesday.
According to national court documents, flight crew members informed investigators that Radio displayed “suspicious behavior.” According to the crew members, the man was seen walking up and down the aisles and sitting in a chair that was not assigned to him, near one of the victims.
Another member of the flight crew stated that she saw Radio holding “what popped up to be a woman’s wallet.”
According to court documents, the investigators who arrested Radio discovered a loose exchange rate that “approximately matched” the quantities claimed to be lacking by the two women during a pat-down search of his belongings.

Two credit card numbers were also discovered in his jacket, according to the agents.

Several insurance companies have issued press releases describing how theft occurs inside the plane. According to one such piece by Australia’s Southern Cross Insurance, toilet breaks are ideal times to strike.

Thieves target electronic devices such as laptops, cameras, and phones in addition to cash.
Insurers have also issued warnings about online ticket booking scams. Scams include phoney airline deals, bogus visa applications, and even Covid-19 travel scams.
Several such reports have been received from around the world. A pickpocket was escorted off a Malaysia Airlines flight in 2019.
