As part of a training trip in Alaska on Thursday, two US Army attack helicopters crashed, according to the military. This is the second such event in less than a month.
When the AH-64 Apache helicopters were returning from a training trip, they “crashed today near Healy, Alaska.” There are first responders on the scene. More details concerning the event will be disclosed when they become available, according to a statement from the US Army’s 11th Airborne Division.

The state of the accident victims wasn’t immediately known.

The event came after a similar one in late March, when two US Army Blackhawk helicopters crashed in Kentucky while on a training mission, killing all nine soldiers inside.

Other US military aircraft have crashed numerous times in recent years, including one involving a Black Hawk that claimed the lives of two Tennessee National Guard members in February as they were on a training trip in Alabama.

When their V-22B Osprey aircraft went down, presumably after hitting a mountain, four US Marines died during NATO drills in Norway last year, according to investigators.

In 2021, a training operation using a T-45C Goshawk jet ended in a crash in a neighbourhood close to Fort Worth, Texas, saving two US Navy pilots. Prior to the plane going down, the pilots ejected.
