A Chinese military plane briefly entered Taiwan’s air defence identification zone in the morning, as Taiwanese prepare to vote in the four-question referendum on Saturday (Dec. 18).
The jet entered Taiwan’s ADIZ at 9:19 a.m., from a height of 4,000 metres, according to radio and flight path records. Taiwan replied by dispatching planes and blasting radio alarms with the following messages:
“Beware!” screams a bulletin from the Republic of China Air Force after Chinese military aircraft entered Taiwan’s southwestern airspace at a height of 4,000 metres. You have entered our airspace, endangering the safety of our aircraft; please return and go as soon as possible!”
Chinese military planes have entered Taiwan’s ADIZ 930 times in 229 days, according to the Ministry of National Defense.
