Joe Biden declared that there is a “real” risk that Vladimir Putin will use tactical nuclear weapons.

Days after condemning Russia’s stationing of such weapons in Belarus, US President Joe Biden stated on Monday that the prospect of Russian President Vladimir Putin utilising tactical nuclear weapons is “real.” On Saturday, Vice President Biden criticised Vladimir Putin for making the “absolutely irresponsible” declaration that Russia had sent its first tactical nuclear weapons to Belarus.

When I replied I was concerned about Putin utilising tactical nuclear weapons, they gave me a strange look. Biden declared, “It’s true.

Alexander Lukashenko, the president of Belarus, announced this week that his country had begun receiving tactical nuclear weapons from Russia. He claimed that some of these weapons were three times as destructive as the atomic bombs that the United States had dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.

Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia has not deployed any such warheads, which are nuclear weapons with a shorter range and lower power that can be used in combat, outside of its borders.

As a result of the deployment, the United States has stated that it has no intention of changing its position on strategic nuclear weapons and that it has not observed any indications that Russia is getting ready to use a nuclear weapon.

China, which has frequently advised against the use of nuclear weapons in the conflict in Ukraine, is keeping a close eye on the Russian deployment in addition to the United States and its allies.
