Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said early Sunday that the Kremlin’s statements on the possible use of nuclear weapons are “absolutely unacceptable,” and Kyiv will not cave in.
Nuclear weapons have been mentioned by Russian President Vladimir Putin and other Russian officials, including Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, as a last resort.
On Twitter, Kuleba criticised Putin and Lavrov for their careless remarks regarding the use of nuclear weapons. “Ukraine will not submit. We call on all nuclear powers to speak up right away and warn Russia that his rhetoric puts the world in danger and won’t be tolerated.”
