On Friday, the Pakistan National Assembly will convene for a crucial session, during which a no-confidence motion against Imran Khan will be introduced. The house will meet at 11 a.m., according to the National Assembly Secretariat, with Speaker Asad Qaiser in the chair, according to the Express Tribune. The no-confidence motion is included in the Secretariat’s 15-point agenda for Friday’s session, which was released on Thursday night. Notably, the Opposition leaders filed a no-confidence motion in the Legislative Council on March 8 in order to depose Imran Khan.

The Imran Khan government needs at least 172 votes in the 342-member National Assembly to survive the no-confidence vote.
However, several dissident MNAs from the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) came out in the open, and government allies are said to have sided with the Opposition, so it remains to be seen whether Imran Khan is successful in defeating the no-trust motion.

Furthermore, in response to the defection of Parliament members, the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) stated on Thursday that not counting votes cast by members during no-trust proceedings against Imran Khan would be “contemptuous.”
