Ali Muhammad Khan, leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), claimed on Sunday that 95% of PTI members in Parliament are opposed to resigning from the assembly. This statement comes just hours after former Information Minister Fawad Chaudhary announced at a press conference in Islamabad that his party members will resign from the National Assembly on Monday because the candidacy of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shahbaz Sharif has been recognised by the National Assembly (NA) Secretariat, according to Geo TV. PTI leader Khan, who delivered the speech in the National Assembly following the success of the no-trust motion, insisted that the majority of PTI members are opposed to the party withdrawing from the assembly.

While resignation can be used as a political tool by any politician, “resigning from the assembly at this time means giving the Opposition a free hand,” he was quoted as saying by Geo TV.

According to sources, the majority of PTI members were opposed to resigning from the assembly, but former Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed and Fawad Chaudhry were attempting to force the members out, according to Geo TV.

Members believed that if this occurred, the PTI as a political party would “suffer irreparable damage,” according to the sources.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protested Imran Khan’s ouster as Prime Minister via a no-confidence motion last night in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf said on Twitter, “Dubai, UAE Call was for Pakistan but Pakistanis across the globe standing up for #ImranKhan.”
In Pakistan, on the other hand, the PTI has held massive rallies in a number of cities around the country. Demonstrators chanted anti-Opposition slogans in Islamabad, Karachi, Peshawar, and Lahore, among other cities.

On Monday, PTI chairman Imran Khan thanked the people of Pakistan for their support in the protests against his removal as Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Even after Imran Khan was ousted from power by opposition parties on Sunday, PTI supporters gathered outside former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s London residence.
The voting on the no-confidence motion against Imran Khan’s PTI government began late Saturday night in the country’s National Assembly, with 174 members voting in favour of the resolution that ousted Imran Khan.
