The British Ministry of Defence indicated on Tuesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin is likely to mention the annexation of the Ukrainian territories under occupation to the Russian Federation during his speech to parliament on September 30.
According to the Defence Ministry’s daily update on Twitter, the referendums now taking place in these regions are expected to end on Tuesday.
“Russia’s officials almost definitely expect that any admission declaration will be perceived as a vindication of the special military operation and will solidify nationalistic support for the fight,” it stated.
