During a visit to China from February 5 to 6, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will discuss the Russian military campaign in Ukraine with Chinese officials, according to a statement from White House national security spokesman John Kirby on Tuesday.

When China criticized a visit to Taiwan by the then-U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi in August of last year, Kirby informed reporters that discussions on a variety of matters, including the militaries of the two nations and climate change, were put on hold.

Kirby stated that Blinken will work to “restore and/or revive” these conversations.

The secretary will probably bring up a number of issues while he is there, Kirby predicted, including the situation in Ukraine. I’m sure he’s looking forward to talking about all of those things, Kirby added.
