Ukraine’s president has called a Russian air strike in Ukraine’s Kharkiv on Wednesday that killed at least six people and injured 16 “despicable and deceitful.”
President Volodymyr Zelensky stated the attack “had no justification and exposes the aggressor’s impotence.”
“We will not forgive; we will exact vengeance,” the president declared on the Telegram app.
According to mayor Igor Terekhov on Telegram, the strike ignited a fire in a block of flats in the city’s northeast.
He had previously stated that three people had died and ten had been injured, but regional governor Oleg Synegubov stated that the toll had climbed.
“Unfortunately, as a result of the bombardment… the number of dead and injuries has increased: six people were murdered and 16 were injured,” Synegubov said on Telegram.
In the early days of the February assault, Kharkiv was surrounded.
However, despite significant artillery and missile strikes, Russian troops have been unable to gain control of Ukraine’s second largest city.
Authorities claim that hundreds of people have been killed in the area.
According to senior police officer Sergiy Bolvinov, a Russian shelling in the city on Monday killed at least one person and injured six others.
The majority of Russia’s onslaught is now aimed at southern and eastern Ukraine.
