During the chaos, seven people are said to have died, including those who fell from a departing American transport plane.

Stunning footage recorded Monday at the Kabul airport shows individuals hanging to a US military transport jet before departure, as well as others falling to their deaths from the sky, in a distressing scenario that apparently resulted in the deaths of numerous people.

According to a spokeswoman for the German foreign ministry, the US military stopped evacuation aircraft from the Afghan capital later Monday owing to swarms of people obstructing the airport’s tarmac.

As per Reuters, the spokeswoman told to media in Berlin, “I understand there is no air traffic at the moment because a large number of desperate people are crowding the tarmac.”

According to The Associated Press, which cited top US military sources, the chaos concluded with seven individuals dead, including those who fell from a departing American military transport plane.

In the meanwhile, the Taliban has issued a statement assuring Afghans that “life, property, and honour” will be respected.

Many Afghans, however, fear that Islamic extremists would repress basic democratic and human rights, especially for women, journalists, and nongovernmental organisation employees.

Reuters spoke to a former government employee sheltering in Kabul who said, “Everyone is worried.” “They haven’t targeted anybody yet, but they will,” says the narrator. In two or three weeks, perhaps. That is why so many people are striving to get out right now.”
