Dramatic video of the incident, which occurred last October in their San Francisco home, was released yesterday. The man who carried out the attack on the ex-US House speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband was armed with a hammer.

Suspect David DePape and Speaker of the House Paul Pelosi can be seen standing side by side in the house in the police body camera footage that was made public by a court.

Both men are holding the hammer, yet it appears to be a rather calm scene. Compared to DePape, Paul Pelosi, 82, is dressed simply in a shirt and shorts.

“What’s going on man?” may be heard being said by a police officer. “Drop the hammer” is then said.

Shortly after, the alleged attacker punches Paul Pelosi, prompting the cops to barge in and take him into custody.

On the ground, Paul Pelosi is visible lying still.

DePape, a 42-year-old public nudity activist, has refuted accusations of attempted murder and other offenses related to the break-in.

He admitted to investigators that his goal was to abduct Nancy Pelosi. When that happened, she wasn’t at home.

After being knocked out cold, Paul Pelosi underwent surgery and was hospitalized for about a week.

The Republican Party took control of the House of Representatives in the elections held in November, and Kevin McCarthy succeeded Nancy Pelosi as speaker of the house. Nancy Pelosi claimed to not have seen the video.
