Malik Faisal Akram, a 44-year-old British national who took four people hostage inside a Texas synagogue in what US President Joe Biden called a “act of terror,” was slain on Sunday following a tense confrontation. The FBI recognised Akram, who was calling for the release of Pakistani scientist Aafia Siddiqui, who was convicted of attempting to kill US military officials while detained in Afghanistan.

According to the FBI announcement, “Special Agent in Charge Matthew DeSamo of the FBI Dallas Field Office confirmed today the identify of the Colleyville, Texas hostage-taker as British Citizen Malik Faisal Akram, 44.”

On Saturday, a guy held at least four people hostage for more than ten hours at a synagogue in Colleyville.

The FBI’s Evidence Response Team (ERT), according to the press release, will continue to process evidence at the synagogue.

The events will be investigated by an FBI Shooting Incident Review Team (SIRT).

In addition, two adolescents were arrested by police in England as part of their investigation. The suspects were not named, nor were they charged, according to the Greater Manchester Police. They were identified as youngsters who had been detained and were being questioned.

What Biden said about the Texas synagogue hostage crisis

Meanwhile, Biden described the hostage-taking event at a synagogue in Colleyville, Texas, as a “act of terror.”

“This was an act of terror,” Biden said, adding that he had spoken with Attorney General Merrick Garland about the hostage incident. “Not only was he (44-year-old British national Malik Faisal Akram) related to someone who had been imprisoned 15 years ago and had been in jail for 10 years,” Biden said.
