Just before directing Russian soldiers into Ukraine, President Vladimir Putin reportedly threatened to personally attack Boris Johnson with a missile.

According to a brand-new BBC documentary that will be shown on Monday, the alleged threat appeared in a phone call soon before the invasion on February 24.

Johnson and other Western leaders had hurried to Kyiv in an effort to show their support for Ukraine and thwart a Russian assault.

At one time, he threatened me in a vague manner by stating, “Boris, I don’t want to hurt you, but with a missile, it would just take a minute,” or words to that effect “Putin remarked, according to Johnson.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky found Johnson to be one of the most ardent Western supporters.

He asserts that, prior to the strike, he made a point of telling Putin that there was no immediate chance that Ukraine would join NATO and that any action would result in “more NATO, not less NATO” on Russia’s borders.

“”Boris,” he added, “you say that Ukraine won’t join NATO any time soon.”

What does “anytime soon” mean? I responded, “Well, it won’t join NATO for the foreseeable future.” You fully understand that.

Johnson went on to say, in reference to the missile threat, “I assume from the very comfortable tone that he was assuming, the type of air of detachment that he seemed to have, he was just playing along with my attempts to get him to negotiate.”

The BBC documentary examines the widening gap between the West and the Russian president in the years leading up to the invasion of Ukraine.

Zelensky is also seen regretting his fruitless attempts to join NATO prior to Russia’s attack.

Why don’t you offer me something today I can use to halt it if you know that Russia will occupy Ukraine tomorrow? he asks.

Or, if you’re unable to provide it to me, stop it yourself.
