China, the most populous country on earth, is experiencing an increase in Covid cases as a result of its decision to loosen tight virus restrictions, and about a dozen nations have imposed new travel restrictions on Chinese citizens. A list of the nations that require Covid tests and other requirements for travellers arriving from China is provided below:

The United States

Beginning January 5, all entry from China must be accompanied by a negative Covid test that was performed within two days of departure, or documentation demonstrating that the traveller had the virus and has recovered within the previous 90 days. The US Centers for Disease Control define acceptable tests as “a PCR test or an antigen self-test delivered and overseen by a telehealth service or a licenced physician”. Visitors from Hong Kong and Macau are subject to the regulations.

Union européenne

All travellers entering France from China beginning January 5 must show proof of a negative PCR test result or a fast antigen test result obtained within 48 hours of their trip. Spain and Italy have also mandated the Covid test. The EU’s incoming presidency, Sweden, stated that it was “seeking a unified approach for the entire EU when it comes to the introduction of prospective entry restrictions,” and European nations are expected to gather this week to discuss a coordinated response to the problem.

Australia

Australia is also demanding that visitors from China, including those from Hong Kong and Macau, present a negative Covid-19 test prior to arrival, claiming a “lack of comprehensive information” from Beijing regarding the outbreak.

Israel

A screening centre has been set up to test visitors who volunteered, and Israel is requiring Covid tests of individuals planning to come from China.

Japan

One of the first nations to enact new regulations for Chinese immigrants was Japan, which demanded a Covid test result that was negative. A seven-day quarantine period will be imposed on anyone who test positive, and Tokyo will restrict flights from the Chinese mainland.
