According to the US Embassy in Ukraine, Poland has promised to assist US individuals in leaving Ukraine by easing entrance processes.

“Citizens of the United States can now enter Poland across the Ukraine land border, according to Poland’s notification to the US administration. No prior approval is required. The border crossings of Korczowa-Krakovets and Medyka-Shehyni are recommended for those entering Poland by land “The US embassy released a statement on Saturday.

US individuals will be required to provide a valid US passport as well as proof of COVID-19 immunisation at the Polish border, according to the press release.

“US citizens in Ukraine should be aware that in the event of Russian military action anywhere in Ukraine, the US government will not be able to evacuate US citizens,” the embassy stressed, advising US citizens to “depart immediately using commercial or other privately available transportation options.”

The US State Department announced earlier on Saturday that some of its diplomatic workers will be relocated from Kiev, Ukraine’s capital, to Lviv, Ukraine, due to security concerns. In response to the deepening of the Ukraine situation, both Canada and Australia announced that their embassies in Kiev will be closed and temporary offices will be opened in Lviv.

The German Federal Foreign Office has updated its travel advise on Ukraine, advising German people to return home as soon as possible if their stay is not absolutely necessary. Other countries, such as New Zealand, Belgium, and Finland, have issued similar warnings. The West and Ukraine have accused Russia of amassing troops along the Ukrainian border in preparation for a “invasion” in recent months.

Moscow has frequently disputed these claims, claiming that it is not threatening anyone while also voicing grave concerns about NATO military action near its borders, which it regards as a danger to its national security. Moscow has also stated that it has the authority to mobilise soldiers within its own country’s borders.
