The European Union said on Friday that it will reopen its diplomatic mission in Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital, after temporarily relocating it to Poland following Russia’s invasion.

Matti Maasikas, the head of the EU delegation in Ukraine, arrived in Ukraine on Friday with other top EU officials and will stay in Kyiv to reopen the delegation and examine the conditions for returning workers, according to the bloc’s diplomatic service.

Josep Borrell, the EU’s top diplomat, said the measure will improve the bloc’s ties with the Ukrainian government and aid civilians in the country.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the EU delegation was relocated from Kyiv to Rzeszow, Poland.
