Japan’s Maritime Self-Defense Force (MSDF) said on Thursday that naval forces from Japan, the United States, and South Korea will engage in joint military exercises on Friday.

The MSDF announced that the operations, which would include anti-submarine manoeuvres, will take place in the Sea of Japan, also known as the East Sea in South Korea.

In Seoul on Thursday, US Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to denounce North Korea’s recent nuclear and missile tests before making her maiden trip to the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) dividing the two Koreas.
