Actor Johnny Depp and lawyer Camille Vasquez have denied relationship rumours.
Ms. Vasquez was one of Mr. Depp’s primary attorneys during his six-week defamation trial against Amber Heard. Throughout the highly publicised trial, there was social media speculation that Ms Vasquez was dating her Hollywood client, which she has now confirmed.
“I assume it comes with the territory of being a woman simply doing her job,” Ms Vasquez said in an interview with People.
She went on to explain, “And now I’ll tell you something more,” she said “It’s disappointing that certain sources leapt on it and suggested that my dealings with Johnny, whom I’ve known and represented for four and a half years, were in any way inappropriate or unethical. That was disappointing.”
Ms. Vasquez added that she “truly cares” about her clients. The “entire crew” grew closer during the process, she claimed. “I grew up in Colombia, but was born in Cuba. I’m a person who prefers to feel things. What exactly do you want me to say? I hg all of you. I’m not ashamed of it, either “She went on to explain.
Ms Vasquez confirmed to People that she has a partner and that they are extremely happy together. “”That’s unethical for a lawyer to date their client,” she remarked, adding, “but it kind of comes with the territory.” I wasn’t surprised at all.”
Camille Vasquez has recently been promoted to partner at Brown Rudnick. During the trial, which took place in Virginia, she became a bit of an internet celebrity. As she grew in popularity among Mr Depp’s fans, she received social media posts and tributes.
Ms Vasquez had bravely cross-examined Amber Heard during the trial. One of the highlights had been when she asked Ms Heard if she had donated the $7 million divorce payment to charity as promised. “Ms Heard, respectfully, that’s not my question,” Ms Vasquez said as Ms Heard tried to avoid addressing the question directly by stating that she had “pledged” the money to several charities.
