Despite the fact that the country’s president wasn’t present and there weren’t any casualties, Indonesian authorities detained a lady on Tuesday who was in possession of a gun outside the presidential palace in Jakarta.

According to a presidential official named Ali Mochtar Ngabalin, the incident took place at around 7 am local time (0000 GMT).

President Joko Widodo was not present, according to Ali, who also claimed that the woman had not entered the palace grounds.

She was carrying the Quran and clad in a niqab, a full-face Islamic veil, Ali claimed.

He added that security personnel had detained the woman, who seemed to be in her twenties, after she was seen waving the gun close to the palace.

The woman was being questioned, a Jakarta police official said, although it wasn’t immediately apparent what she was up to or how she got the weapon.

The largest Muslim nation in the world, Indonesia, has historically been the subject of terrorist attacks, some of which have targeted law enforcement and governmental figures.
At the national police headquarters in Jakarta last year, a lady opened fire on police officers in an attack that was motivated by ISIS. Police shot and killed the woman.
