On Saturday, a massive fire broke out at The Children’s Hospital in Lahore’s Gulberg, Pakistan, according to local media. The rescue officials confirmed the incident of this massive fire, according to Pakistan’s local media outlet Samaa TV. The fire broke out in the pharmacy stockpiling on the third floor, destroying medicines worth millions of rupees. So far, no fatalities have been reported in the incident. The hospital building was evacuated during the rescue operation.

At least seven fire engines have been sent out to extinguish the fire, according to the Fire Department. Meanwhile, supplemental fire engines from across the city have been dispatched to assist in putting out the fire.

More than 40 firefighters from the Fire Department and Rescue 1122 have been dispatched to the scene to help contain the situation. The cause of the fire is still unknown. According to officials, once the fire has been extinguished, the cause of the fire will be investigated.

Earlier in the day, one person was killed and three others were rendered unconscious after a fire broke out in the basement of a department store near Karachi’s Jail Chowrangi.

According to Station House Officer (SHO) Arshad Janjua of Ferozabad Police Station, the person killed in the fire was a store employee, and one of the three who lost consciousness was a firefighter.

Mubeen Ahmed, Chief Fire Officer of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), stated that 11 fire tenders from the corporation, two water bowsers, one snorkel, 13 water cargo ships from the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, and tenders from the Pakistan Navy all assisted in putting out the fire.

By the evening, they had managed to put out 70% of the fire, he said. “However, officials are in a difficult situation because the fire erupted in the basement,” he said, adding that there have been no entry or exit routes.

According to the SHO, the fire had subsided somewhat but erupted again around 6 p.m., prompting authorities to dispatch fire tenders to the scene.
“The fire erupted again for unknown reasons and spread quickly, and the firefighters are battling to put it out,” the officer added.
