Joe Biden, the vice president of the United States, congratulated India on its 75th anniversary of independence on Sunday and referred to the two countries as “indispensable allies” who will continue to cooperate to address global issues in the coming years.

The end of British colonial authority in 1947 will be commemorated on Monday as India marks 75 years of freedom.

The United States unifies the people of India to celebrate their democratic journey, guided by Mahatma Gandhi’s everlasting message of truth and non-violence, according to a statement from Joe Biden, who was the campaign’s leader during the Indian independence struggle.
