The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has claimed responsibility for a power pylon explosion in Kabul, which has left the city in utter darkness since Thursday. Caliphate warriors, according to an ISIL statement, detonated a bomb on an energy pylon in Kabul in order to destroy the power grid.

Three people were arrested in connection with the detonation of the power pylon, according to the Interior Ministry of the Taliban-announced interim government, without saying whether they were linked to ISIL or not.

The power pylon exploded in Kabul’s northern Shakardara district.

It knocked out the power in Kabul and other provinces.

Several incidents of power pylon detonation have occurred in the country during previous administrations as well.

According to local media, it caused de Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), the country’s electricity authority, millions of Afghani financial losses.
