Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea, supervised the testing of weapons that could be used to launch nuclear attacks against the US and its allies, including one that his government claimed was an advanced underwater drone that could unleash a “radioactive tsunami.”

According to the official Korean Central News Agency, cruise missiles fitted with dummy nuclear weapons were also used in the tests, which took place from Tuesday through Thursday. Before exploding, the underwater drone was said to have been cruising off its east shore for nearly 60 hours.

A super-scale radioactive tsunami will be created by an underwater explosion as part of the underwater nuclear strategic weapon’s objective, according to KCNA, in order to destroy enemy naval striker units and important operational ports.

Although this was the first time North Korea’s propaganda machine had mentioned the use of such a drone, the country also has a large number of miniature submarines that use outdated technology and are reasonably simple to spot in open waters if they stray far from the coast.

The exercises are the most recent attempts by North Korea to strengthen its capacity to launch a credible nuclear attack against the US and its major Asian allies, South Korea and Japan. In order to do this, novel warhead delivery systems as well as quick-deploy, maneuverable solid-fuel ballistic missiles have been created.

North Korea has threatened to transform the Pacific Ocean into its “firing range” if joint military maneuvers with South Korea go on as planned and has warned the US of an unprecedented reaction.

One of the largest US-South Korean joint drills in recent years ended as the most recent nuclear attack capability tests were wrapping up. Seoul and Washington are preparing to hold their biggest live-fire drills ever in June, which could provoke Pyongyang into further provocations.

According to KCNA, Kim vehemently denounced “the U.S. imperialists for desperately turning to military moves endangering the regional situation under the pretense of fulfilling their commitment to defend allies.” In order to be ready for Pyongyang’s threats as it expands its nuclear arsenal, the US and its allies claimed the exercises were necessary.

The former president Donald Trump had scaled back or stopped the combined exercises in the hopes that it would help his nuclear talks with the leader of North Korea. Kim’s nuclear arsenal only got larger as the talks stalled and no real action was taken to reduce it.

According to KCNA, Kim stressed the significance of keeping a robust nuclear defense capability and the need for the nation to constantly advance its nuclear weapons program to defend its citizens and territory from perceived threats, especially from the US and South Korea.
