India has stated that the Taliban’s pledge not to allow the use of Afghan soil for terrorism in any way should be followed, and it has advocated for a broad-based inclusive administration in Afghanistan that represents all segments of Afghan society.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, speaking at a G-20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on Afghanistan on Wednesday, also stated that India’s commitment will be guided by its long-standing relationship with the Afghan people.

Last month, the Taliban marched over Afghanistan, capturing control of nearly all major towns and cities in the wake of the US troop pullout, which began on May 1. Kabul, the capital city, fell to the insurgents on August 15.

On September 6, the Taliban declared victory over opposition forces in Panjshir, completing their conquest of Afghanistan three weeks after conquering Kabul.

Afghan territory will not be utilised against any country, according to the Taliban.

He stated that in order to respond to humanitarian concerns, the international community must unite.

“Assistance providers must have unrestricted, direct access,” he stated.
