The United States, Australia, and Japan’s defence ministers decided on Saturday to increase their military cooperation in response to China’s expanding ambitions.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin welcomed his counterparts from Australia and Japan to the US military command for the Pacific region and said, “We are gravely worried about China’s growing assertive and bullying actions in the Taiwan Strait, and elsewhere in the region.

“Maintaining the global order based on norms is something we are interested in. However, we also observe that order being challenged in the Indo-Pacific as a result of China’s efforts to mould the world in a novel fashion “Minister Richard Marles from Australia stated.

Forcing a diplomatic attack against Chinese dominance in the region is the United States.

On Thursday, Washington unveiled a $810 million aid package for the Pacific Island countries where it intends to step up diplomatic relations.

During her visit to Japan and South Korea last week, Vice President Kamala Harris said that the US would act fearlessly and decisively in all of Asia, including the Taiwan Strait.

Beijing claims the narrow and congested waterway that separates Taiwan from China as well as Taiwan itself.

Harris went to Seoul as well as the demilitarised zone separating the two Koreas. Her appearance was planned as a way for Washington to demonstrate its dedication to protecting South Korea from North Korea.
