A spokesman for former President Bill Clinton said Thursday evening that he was sent to the hospital with a non-Covid-related infection.

Clinton was diagnosed with a blood illness, according to his doctors.

According to Angel Urena, Clinton, 75, was admitted to a hospital in Irvine, California, on Tuesday evening.

He didn’t go into much information about the infection other than to state it wasn’t caused by Covid.

“He’s doing well and is appreciative to the doctors, nurses, and staff for their excellent care,” Urena said.

Clinton was admitted to the University of California Irvine Medical Center, but nothing else was said.

Clinton was admitted for “strict monitoring and IV antibiotics and hydration,” according to a statement from Clinton’s doctors, which Urena tweeted.

“After two days of antibiotic treatment, his white blood cell count is decreasing and he is responding well to antibiotics,” the statement stated.

“We want to have him home soon,” the doctors said, adding that they are in regular contact with Clinton’s medical team in New York, which includes his cardiologist.

From 1993 until 2001, Clinton was the 42nd president of the United States.

After doctors discovered evidence of significant heart disease, he underwent quadruple bypass surgery in 2004 at the age of 58.

Clinton, who was known for his fondness for fatty meals before the health scare, switched to a vegan diet after that.
