Music legends have paid tribute to Australian singer-songwriter Anita Lane, a former member of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

In addition to collaborating with the band The Birthday Party, the Melbourne artist released two solo albums, Dirty Pearl in the mid-1990s and Sex O’Clock in 2001.

Lane’s death was confirmed by Rolling Stone, but the cause of death has not yet been revealed.

Former bandmates Nick Cave and Mick Harvey, as well as Cave’s wife Susie, paid tribute to Lane on social media.

Harvey captioned a 1995 photo of Lane with “one for every year I’ve loved you.”

Kid Congo Powers, another former Bad Seeds member, stated that Lane “will be sorely missed.”

Powers posted on social media, “Goodbye lovely Anita, my most magical friend.”

“Love to all who loved her.”

Lane was in a relationship with Nick Cave in the early stages of their music careers, and they collaborated on songs like From Her to Eternity and Stranger Than Kindness.

She reportedly left the music scene and public life after the release of her second album.
