Initial reports from Russia’s Tass news agency, sourced from emergency services, suggested damage to four Ilyushin 76 (Il-76) aircraft, with two of them catching fire. Subsequent information from Ria news agency stated that two Il-76 planes had ignited.

This is not the first time Pskov region has been targeted by drones; an earlier incident occurred in late May.

The escalating use of drones has resulted in severe consequences. A  attack on Russia’s Belgorod region claimed three lives just a week ago. This followed the destruction of a flagship Russian long-range bomber by a Ukrainian drone strike near St Petersburg.

Ukrainian drones recently executed a large-scale raid on multiple Russian regions. One of these assaults targeted an airport in Pskov, near the borders of Latvia and Estonia. Drone attack resulted in the damage of military transport aircraft due to explosions and a massive fire.

Ukrainian air defenses took down more than 20 missiles and drones involved in the assault. Tragically, two security guards lost their lives due to falling debris.
