Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, opened up about her relationship with Queen Elizabeth II just weeks after her death.

Meghan Markle said in an interview with Variety, “I’ve thought about how special that first official engagement I had with her felt. I consider myself lucky. And I’m still proud to have had a nice rapport with the family matriarch.”

The ‘Suits’ alum expressed her gratitude for being able to be with her husband, Prince Harry, to support him during Queen Elizabeth’s death.

“There has been a flood of love and support. I’m grateful that I was able to be there for my husband during that difficult time. What’s especially touching is his grandmother’s ability to leave a legacy on so many fronts. Certainly, she is the most illustrious example of female leadership “She explained.
