President Joe Biden temporarily passed control to US Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday, making her the first woman in the US to hold presidential office.
Biden was under anaesthetic for a normal colonoscopy for one hour and 25 minutes when the power transfer took place, according to CNN.
Harris, the United States’ first female, Black, and South Asian vice president, broke even another milestone by becoming the country’s first female president.
According to Psaki, Harris worked from her West Wing office while Biden was sedated.
On Friday morning, Biden met with Harris and the White House Chief of Staff.
“POTUS was in a good mood and resumed his duties at that moment.” “He’ll do the rest of his usual physical at Walter Reed,” Psaki tweeted.
.@POTUS spoke with @VP and @WHCOS at approximately 11:35am this morning. @POTUS was in good spirits and at that time resumed his duties. He will remain at Walter Reed as he completes the rest of his routine physical.

When the president requires anaesthetic in the United States, the vice president usually assumes presidential duties.
