POMPANO BEACH, (FLORIDA ) – Rescue and recovery operations are currently in progress following a helicopter crash involving the Broward Sheriff’s Office in Pompano Beach.

The incident unfolded near Blanche Ely High School, specifically in the 1000 block of Northwest Sixth Avenue. The crash was reported by residents of a small apartment building in the vicinity. The helicopter, carrying a crew of three individuals, experienced the unfortunate event.

Around 8:45 a.m., at 1201 NW 6th Ave., the incident occurred. Video footage depicted a swift descent of the chopper, accompanied by a trailing plume of smoke.

7SkyForce’s live video feed displayed multiple fire rescue trucks at the site, diligently combating the flames that had erupted upon impact.

BSO officials confirmed three occupants were on board during the incident, with two having been taken to Broward Health. Unfortunately, their conditions remain undisclosed.

Broward County School representatives assured that no school structures were affected; the helicopter came to rest a few blocks away from the school premises.

Due to the occurrence, South Dixie Highway near Atlantic Boulevard has been temporarily closed, enabling authorities to clear the area effectively.

Social media footage has captured the moments preceding the accident. Smoke was observed emanating from the helicopter just before it began to loop in circular motions, ultimately resulting in the crash landing.
