Former President Donald Trump, who has called the current US government “stupid,” stated on Saturday that he would never have allowed the Ukraine situation to deteriorate in this manner, according to the Sputnik news agency. At the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Orlando, Florida, Trump reflected on his presidency, saying that the globe was a calm place because America was powerful.

While emphasising that Russia “respected” America during his administration, he branded current President Joe Biden “weak and horribly incompetent,” which has resulted in the current situation in Ukraine. Washington was viewed as “strong, crafty, and brilliant” at the time, but “today, we’re a stupid country,” Trump said, according to Sputnik.

According to the former US president, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin decided on special military operations in Ukraine in response to the US’ weak departure from Afghanistan. He described Putin as “clever,” but said that NATO countries “are not so smart; they appear to be the polar opposite of smart.”

“The problem is not that Putin is smart, which he is; the actual problem is that our politicians are foolish,” Trump said, according to the news agency. Former US President George H.W. Bush was reported as saying that anti-Russia sanctions are inadequate because Moscow has repeatedly withstood similar measures.

“Putin is playing Biden like a drum,” he claimed, adding that if he had been President, it would have been easy for him to “end this atrocity.”

“The globe hasn’t been this chaotic since World War II. I am the only President of the twenty-first century under whose watch Russia did not invade another country “Trump was reported by Sputnik as saying.

Notably, Putin acknowledged Ukraine’s separatist regions – Donetsk and Luhansk – as autonomous entities on Monday. Later, Putin directed special military actions “to safeguard” the people of the Donbas region.

Several countries, notably the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, and the European Union, have denounced Russia’s military operations and slapped sanctions on Moscow.
