Team India dropped to fourth position in the World Test Championship table with a 227-run thrashing at the hands of England. On the final day of the Test to bowl them out on 192 in a 420-run chase, England registered their third-successive win on Asian soil (two in Sri Lanka), outclassing India.
James Anderson and Jack Leach were the stars with a bowl for England, taking seven wickets among them on the final day of the game, as Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara’s Indian batting order collapsed again after a promising start to the day.
Virat Kohli held one end on the crease for India for the majority of the time, top-scoring with 72.
India dropped to fourth place in the World Test Championship table with 68.3 percentage points, while England is now at the top of the table with 70.3.

While New Zealand has already qualified for the Lord’s final, India, England, and Australia remain in contention for second place in the title match, which will take place at the iconic stadium between 18-22 July.
Virat Kohli’s men will have to defeat England by either 2-1 or 3-1 for India to qualify for the final.
