Hollywood paid tribute to Cloris Leachman, the Oscar-winning actress, following her death at the age of 94.

Perhaps Leachman was best known for her comedy work, including the Mary Tyler Moore Show television series and movies like Young Frankenstein.

For her portrayal of a neglected housewife in The Last Picture Show in 1971, she won a best-supporting actress Oscar.

At her home in Encinitas, California, Leachman died from natural causes, a representative said.

Tributes flooded in from all over Hollywood, with director Mel Brooks in his 1974 comedy Young Frankenstein praising her turn as Frau Blucher as “unforgettable.”

Veep star Julia Louis-Dreyfus holds the record for Emmy history’s most awarded actor with Leachman, with eight.

Ed Asner, Leachman’s long-time friend and co-star of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, shared a touching picture that showed the actress kissing him.

‘A photo from the last time I saw you,’ said the 91-year-old. “Beautiful always. The enormity of my love for you would not top anything I could say. Until we meet the darling again.’

“Steve Martin, another of the most acclaimed comic artists in Hollywood, said: “Salute to Cloris Leachman, who brought the mysteries of comedy to the big and small screen.

She grew up watching Leachman, adding: “Your consistent excellence, ability to morph, and bravery will be sorely missed,” Oscar-winning actress Viola Davis said. Cloris Leachman RIP! Fucking Godspeed.

“Reese Witherspoon, another Oscar-winner, said: “In every unique performance, truly original and larger than life. An incredibly talented actress who’ll be missed deeply. ”

In the sitcom The Ellen Show, Ellen DeGeneres starred alongside Leachman.
In its tribute, Leachman was described as a “comedy legend” by the Academy, the body that oversees the Oscars.

“It said, “From her groundbreaking role in The Mary Tyler Moore Show to Mel Brooks’ films and her Oscar-winning turn in The Last Picture Show by Peter Bogdanovich, she never lost her ability to shock, delight, and surprise us. She is going to be missed.
