As the war in Ukraine continues, Russian forces advance, destroying key cities and even attacking a nuclear power plant. A video has now surfaced on social media depicting the extent of the damage in Borodyanka, 60 kilometers northwest of Kyiv.
Drone footage shows burned-out trucks clogging the town’s main street and smoke billowing from the buildings.

Aerial drone footage shows the total destruction of civilian apartment buildings in Borodyanka, Ukraine, a town near Kyiv, by Russian cruise missile bombardments.

The video, which was released by the news agency Reuters, also includes some close-up shots of fires that were still smoldering inside the buildings. One of the residential buildings is seen in a dilapidated state, nearly ripped in half.

The contents of rooms blown open by Russian shelling can be seen on the road. On a highway, burnt-out hulks of Russian armor can also be seen.

Borodyanka was shelled on Wednesday night as Russian forces moved deeper into Ukraine. The shelling continues for two days, killing many civilians.

Residents of the town claimed they used Molotov cocktails to repel the Russian advance.
“They started shooting from their APC towards the park in front of the post office,” a local told Reuters.

“Then those cretins started the tank and started shooting into the already burned-out supermarket.” It caught fire once more. With big round eyes, an elderly man dashed outside and demanded, “Give me a Molotov cocktail!” “I just set their APC on fire!” the man continued.

The exact number of casualties in Borodyanka is unknown.

Thousands are believed to have died or been injured as the largest attack on a European state since WWII enters its ninth day, resulting in 1 million refugees.

Russian forces have continued to encircle and attack Ukrainian cities, including Mariupol, the main port in the east that has been heavily bombarded and has no water or power. Officials say they are unable to evacuate the injured.
