Raja Krishnamoorthi, an Indian-American Congressman, applauded the House’s unanimous passage of a resolution urging the Biden administration to deliver crucial medical supplies to India in the wake of the second coronavirus outbreak. Krishnamoorthi praised the resolution’s passage, which he co-sponsored, and acknowledged COVID-19’s catastrophic impact in India.

Congressman Krishnamoorthi, a member of the India Caucus, backs US efforts to combat the pandemic on a worldwide basis, particularly in the most affected nations, such as India. He has also presented the bicameral Nullifying Opportunities for Variants to Infect and Decimate (NOVID) Act to boost US global vaccination efforts in order to support the resolution’s goals.

The NOVID Act will increase vaccine manufacturing capacity to eight billion doses, immunise 60% of the population in the 92 COVAX countries, including India, and create a global disease surveillance network to protect against future pandemics.

“I’m delighted my colleagues and I were able to pass H.Res.402 to emphasise our countries’ need to support countries like India, which has been badly impacted by devastating COVID-19 case rates,” Krishnamoorthi said.

“That’s why I introduced the NOVID Act, which would increase the US’s responsibility in ensuring that vaccines reach people all across the world. This will hasten the conclusion of the pandemic and protect the remarkable progress made in the United States by reducing the risk of a dangerous COVID-19 mutation spreading outside of the country. Because this is a global pandemic, a worldwide reaction is required “He went on to say
