A video that has gone viral on the internet shows a massive monitor lizard destroying items and causing havoc in a supermarket. The terrifying video was captured at a 7 Eleven in Thailand and was first posted on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon by Thai travel agency Mundo Nomada.

The giant reptile was seen running up a collection of shelves inside the shop, knocking down several objects in the process, in the unbelievable video. As the giant lizard made its way to the roof, terrified customers could be heard scream and laugh in the background. Even as onlookers proceeded to film the odd sight, it stopped for a rest after reaching the top.

Despite the fact that Mundo Nomada’s video was removed on Wednesday, a re-post of the same clip has received over 6 million views.

One Twitter user said, “Godzilla is real guys,” while another called the scene “nightmarish.”

Others, on the other hand, saw humour in the case, with one commenter suggesting that the lizard just needed some “top shelf treats” and another suggesting that the lizard “might have just waited and asked an employee to hit the high shelf.”

Mundo Nomada described the reptile as a monitor lizard in a subsequent tweet after the video went viral on social media. The tour operator company wrote, “The animal in the video is an Asian water monitor.” “They are easily found in Bangkok and other parts of Thailand (for example, Lumphini Park). Carrion is a common food source for them. This animal’s name is sometimes used as a slur in Thailand.”
