Maraj, 64, was hospitalised and, the next day, succumbed to his wounds.

Nassau County Police were still searching for the driver on Sunday night and have not published any details of the suspect or the vehicle description.

At (800) 244-TIPS, detectives are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers.

Maraj’s daughter, who was born to Onika Maraj and is known for hits like “Super Bass” and “Starships,” has not publicly commented on his death.

Over the years, Minaj has talked about her fraught relationship with her dad.

In a 2012 “Nightline” appearance, she talked about his drug and alcohol abuse, telling the interviewer, “My father was abusive. … We were afraid of [my mother’s] life because whenever he had a really bad outburst, he’d be threatening to kill her.”

Minaj later told The New York Times that he was not abusing her, but that he was abusive.

“I would always hear him screaming and cursing, always. And it made me feel like it was the way to interact because that’s how I saw him interact,” she told the 2015 paper.
