Former US President Donald Trump had also paid a $110,000 fine for obstructing a major tax obfuscation investigation led by New York state authorities in 2019. The New York State Supreme Court ordered Trump on April 25 to pay $10,000 per day for as long as he refused to provide accounting and tax documents as part of the state Attorney General’s civil investigation into the Trump Organization family business.
“On May 19, Donald Trump paid the attorney general’s workplace $110,000,” James’ office said in a statement.
For months, James and the Republican billionaire have been locked in a legal battle.

Faced with Donald Trump’s refusal, James requested on April 25 a ruling that he be charged with obstruction.
However, on May 6, a New York judge stopped the counting of days for which he should be fined and determined that Donald Trump would have until Friday, May 20 to pay for the period from April 25 to May 6, or $110,000 for 11 days – which he did on Thursday.
According to James’ spokesperson, the Trump Organization had until Friday to submit sworn statements in response to the Trump Organization’s request for accounting and tax record keeping.

The judge must now make a decision whether the Trump administration has met all of the demands.
James believes the Trump Organization overstated the value of real estate properties when utilising for bank loans while understating them with tax authorities in order to pay less in taxes.
The Trump Organization and its economic director Allen Weisselberg have been charged with tax evasion, and Donald Trump is also under criminal investigation by the Manhattan prosecutor.
They have pleaded not guilty, and the trial is scheduled to begin later this year.
