Tuesday morning saw the successful inaugural flight of Alice, the first all-electric aircraft in the world. According to media sources, the zero-emission passenger plane, which was made by Israel’s Eviation Aircraft, flew for eight minutes after taking off from Washington’s Grant County International Airport (MHW). Nine people may fit inside Alice, which has a top speed of 260 ktas, or more than 480 kmph. It can fly for up to two hours and cover a distance of up to 250 nautical miles (400 km). Maximum payload for the aircraft is 2,500 lbs (approx 1,100 kg).

At 3,500 feet in the air during its first flight, Alice received critical information that will be utilised to further refine the aircraft in preparation for commercial manufacturing.

“This is the past. Since we switched from piston engines to turbine engines, the propulsion technology in aircraft has not changed. The last time a totally new technology like this came together was in the 1950s, according to Gregory Davis, president and chief executive officer of Eviation Aircraft.

According to the company’s official website, Eviation Aircraft is developing three electric aircraft models that are now in the prototype stage. These come in commuter, executive, and cargo-carrying variations.

According to the website, the 9-seater commuter version has amenities like SkyView panoramic windows and individually adjustable electro-chromatic blinds.

The executive model, on the other hand, has high-end amenities and extras and can carry up to six passengers. Additionally, this version has greater room and can transport bikes, skis, and golf clubs. The volume that Alice’s freight version can hold is 450 cubic feet.

The business claims that Alice is an emission-free aeroplane and that its electric motor is quieter than other commonly used combustion engines. Furthermore, its propulsion system requires less upkeep.
