After a rumoured split and their move to America, Queen Elizabeth II’s passing might assist facilitate a rapprochement between Prince Harry and wife Meghan and the rest of the royal family.
The couple, who were in the country for a rare visit when the queen passed away on Thursday, met up with William and Kate, the wife of Harry’s brother, and the couple on Saturday at Windsor Castle. They had not appeared together in public before moving to the United States in early 2020.

All dressed in mourning black, they walked together and took in the swelling banks of flowers left by the public before saying hello to well-wishers in different pairs while keeping their relationship status a secret.

The quartet, formerly known as “the fab four” in earlier times, choosing to walk out in front of the cameras at all seemed to be an indication that their severely strained relationships were beginning to mend.

The heir to the throne, William, reportedly suggested the “olive branch” to his younger brother, who has grown more critical of the family after stepping down from active royal duties, according to UK royal correspondents.

Just two days prior, the situation was rather different, with a tearful-eyed Harry, 37, driving alone to the Balmoral estate where the queen had just passed away.

Kate wasn’t there when William and several other members of the royal family arrived earlier in a separate car. They were also too late to visit the queen before she died away.

The brothers had grown “estranged,” according to royal analyst Richard Fitzwilliams, as seen by their separate appearances on Thursday.

In his opinion, Harry and Meghan’s attacks on the monarchy were perceived as having “done the royal family a significant amount of harm in recent months.”

Fitzwilliams continued, “For the future, the ball is in their court and it depends on how they choose to play.

Different routes

Things were so different in the past.

The princes’ mother Diana passed away in a traffic accident in Paris in 1997, and they made history by marching behind her casket during her funeral.
