Elon Musk’s transgender daughter has asked for her name to be changed in order to match her new gender identity and because she “no longer lives with or wishes to be affiliated with my biological father in any way, shape, or form.”

In April, she petitioned the Los Angeles County Superior Court in Santa Monica for a name change and a new birth certificate reflecting her new gender identification. It was recently brought to light in several internet media reports.

According to court documents available online at PlainSite.org, the former Xavier Alexander Musk, who recently turned 18, the age of consent in California, has sought the court to modify her gender recognition from male to female and to register her new name.

Her new name was redacted in the internet record. Her mother is Justine Wilson, who divorced Musk in 2008.

There was no further reason for the schism between Musk’s daughter and her father, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO who is aiming to acquire Twitter for $44 billion.

On Monday, neither Musk’s lawyer nor the Tesla media office responded to Reuters’ emails requesting comment.

Musk expressed his support for the Republican Party in May, approximately a month after the name and gender change document was submitted. The Republican Party’s elected officials support a host of measures that would limit transgender rights in states across the country.
