The Center today issued an advisory on lucrative job offers to entice Indian youths for the posts of “Digital Sales and Marketing Executives” in Thailand by dubious IT firms involved in the call-center scams and cryptocurrency fraud in response to reports of fake job rackets luring Indian IT professionals to Thailand and Myanmar.
After dozens of Indians were brought into Myanmar illegally as part of the employment racket, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Arindam Bagchi had earlier urged Indian citizens to exercise extreme caution before accepting jobs in Thailand.

And the local security situation makes it difficult to get to that area you are aware of. However, because of our mission in the nation, we have been able to help some of these victims escape from slavery or forced labour, and we are working to assist others,” he had stated.

The target demographic, according to today’s official warning, is young people with an IT background who are conned into believing they can find lucrative data entry jobs in Thailand through social media advertisements as well as through agents based in Dubai and India.

According to the foreign ministry advisory, the victims are allegedly taken illegally across the border, mostly into Myanmar, and held captive to perform labour under inhumane conditions.

Indian nationals were warned by the government not to fall for these false job offers that are advertised on social media sites and in other places.

Indian nationals are advised to check/verify credentials of foreign employers through concerned Missions abroad, as well as the track record of recruiting agents and any company, before accepting any job offer, the statement read.
