After a huge earthquake struck Greece’s shoreline, tremors could be felt for hundreds of miles.
A magnitude 6 earthquake occurred near the Greek island of Karpathos on Tuesday, according to the US Geological Survey.
According to Greek State TV, the tremor was felt on Crete, Santorini, and Rhodes.
According to analysts, it was felt in Turkey, Egypt, Syria, and Israel.
Buildings are seen shaking in dramatic images from the quake.
At a depth of roughly 23 miles, the tremor occurred (38km).
There are no reports of any injuries.
Rooms swayed from side to side, and mattresses and other furniture moved, according to residents.
On the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) website, a resident of Lindos, a town on the Greek island of Rhodes, wrote: ‘Wow! That one hit me hard! The curtains were moving, and the chair was moving in an odd side to side and round manner, making me feel extremely seasick! ‘It lasted 30 seconds.’
Another person stated they were on the 14th floor of their hotel in Rhodes when they ‘felt the room swing from side to side and the bed and light fixtures swaying.’
The quake occurred 219 kilometres south of Rhodes, according to the EMSC.
Many people said they felt it from afar.
‘The earthquake was well felt in Jerusalem,’ one individual tweeted the agency.
‘In Helwan, Cairo was quite strong,’ wrote another.
