As Russia’s invasion of the Eastern European country proceeds, Pakistan millionaire Mohammad Zahoor, the former publisher of Kyiv Post, has reportedly sent Ukraine fighter jets to aid in their assault.

According to Newsweek, Mr Zahoor’s wife, Ukrainian singer Kamaliya Zahoor, stated that her husband and other affluent friends had been discreetly assisting Ukraine in its war against Russia, citing Ukraine’s TSN. Her spouse assisted in the acquisition of two jets for Ukraine’s air force, she stated.

“(Mohammed) has given me permission to tell you this.” Because they tried to hide their [activity]. According to the media site, “they handed Ukraine two fighter jets to assist Ukraine.”

It is worth noting that, since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war, Mr Zahoor, a former resident of Ukraine and former owner of the Ukrainian daily Kyiv Post, has advocated for the safe departure of Ukrainian citizens. The British businessman of Pakistani origin is apparently aiming to raise finances and assist in the evacuation of refugees to the UK and other parts of Europe. According to Newsweek, he has also continued to contact with heads of state and other powerful persons in order to assure Ukrainians’ safe passage.

In an interview with Arab News in March, Mr Zahoor also urged people throughout the world to support and side with Ukraine as it fights back against Russian aggression. “I publicly support Ukraine because, after reviewing [news from] Western, Ukrainian, and Russian media, I can see and determine who is telling the truth. This is the time for everyone to speak up for Ukraine, or else every major country would swallow its neighbour whole “he stated.

Meanwhile, resistance in occupied Ukrainian territory persists. While Moscow has said that it is conducting a “special military operation” to demilitarise and “denazify” its neighbour, the West and Kiev have dismissed this as a pretext for an invasion. However, Russian forces maintain their major push, attempting to grab more land in the eastern Donbas region, which Moscow claims on behalf of separatists.

According to Reuters, Russian and Russian-backed forces continue to dominate an area of Ukraine about the size of Greece around the Azov and Black Seas, as well as in Ukraine’s east bordering Russia. However, Russian forces have been forced out of the northeastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv over the last two weeks.
